Konvent is a four-piece Metal band that likes their Metal slow and deep. The more you listen to this record, the more it drags you down into the mud of its abyssal atmosphere. This isn‘t work-out-music, this is work-down music. No jogging, no Zumba, this is music for moving heavy objects.

Konvent deliver a great Sludge Metal record for the start of the new decade. It has groove, the atmosphere is dark and monochrome and the voice of singer Rikke sounds as if she ate metal shrapnels for breakfast.

Personal favorites are „Waste“ and the two „Rope“s that conclude this record. Especially the latter duo changes the Sludge formula a little by adding some nice melodies to the whole thing.

If you have a weakness for slow and heavy Metal look no further and feast your ear on this record to start your metal year right.

P.R. (Post Review, isn’t it clever -)
I consider the fact that this band is an all-women band as not important. „Female fronted Metal“ is not a genre, it is a marketing term. I personally don‘t care whether a woman screams/yells/shouts at me or a hairy guy. Music matters, genders are for passports.
