Texas Death Metal juggernaut Tribal Gaze are back with their sophomore full-length Inveighing Brilliance, out October 17th via Nuclear Blast Records. The band doesn’t hold anything back. Ten death metal monoliths sharpened to perfection, barbaric in nature yet executed with a clear modern intent. Inveighing Brilliance is the sound of pure, primitive rage.

From the very first blast, it’s obvious that Tribal Gaze have no interest in subtlety. The drum sound alone feels like it was played on a pile of bones. It’s raw, organic, and full of impact. “Beyond Recognition” crushes everything in its way with thunderous blast beats and heavy, groove-driven riffs. Lyrically, the track envisions an outside force annihilating humanity for its arrogance, which fits perfectly with the sheer destructive energy the band delivers.

Tribal Gaze’s groove hits like a herd of wild elephants trampling through ancient ruins. “Emptying the Nest” showcases a slightly more modern edge, blending their signature brutality with diabolic, mosh-ready melodies. The vocals roar with a power reminiscent of Xibalba. Honestly, Tribal Gaze might even sound heavier at this point, which says a lot!

Guarding the Illusion” might just be one of the heaviest songs you’ll hear in 2025. It’s violent, chaotic, and unrelenting. The echoing atmosphere and sheer sonic violence throughout the album push you over the edge and straight into a dark abyss.

Surprisingly, the title track “Inveighing Brilliance” serves as a short instrumental interlude, offering a strange yet refreshing twist. It’s like a bizarre fusion of Sepultura and Imperial Triumphant. Eerie, dissonant, and perfectly placed before the final storm.

That storm is “Lord of Blasphemy“, a nearly seven-minute monster of a closer. The track feels like being trapped in an ancient temple collapsing around you. Suffocating, brutal, and cinematic in its destruction.

Inveighing Brilliance is one of the most violent and uncompromising death metal records of 2025. It’s proof that Tribal Gaze are not just part of the new generation of death metal…they’re leading it. The future looks bright (or should I say hideously dark?) for this Texas powerhouse.

Bow down to your new masters of brutality.
