It’s a strange fact that during the sunniest seasons, one sometimes craves the musical opposite as a soundtrack. July 25th falls right in the middle of summer and practically screams for a light and breezy soundtrack. Boneflower (who do come from sunny Spain, after all) are releasing their new album Reveries on that very day for all the musical sun worshippers out there.

While the title track starts out as a calm instrumental introduction, “The Sun And The Moon” is a full-blown Screamo epic. If that already hits the nerve, “Sad Bird” will cut even deeper. These are song-shaped tornadoes, reshaping every fiber of the body and wringing out the heart with bare hands.

Tears Return When Heartbreaks Don’t Heal With Time” feels like a diary entry read aloud by a close friend while “Estrella,” with its galloping pace, evokes comforting associations with Touché Amoré. And speaking of Touché Amoré, Jeremy Bolm from the very same band lends his pipes on the punchy two-minute track “Pomegranate.” I can’t wait for a live-premiere of this.

Boneflower are another punishing and highly emotional entry in the great Deathwish Inc. roster. This is honest to God, one hand to throat and one wrapped around the heart music. Screamo and Post-Hardcore waltzing in a rough mosh pit to move your body and soul.
