Rană – Freamăt (Single / EP Premiere)

With their 2021 debut release Armament, Rană immediately drew attention with a refined sound that had a strong recognition value. Having come back to this release numerous times, it was a blessing when Richtfeuer, their sophomore release, was set to see the light of day in 2023. Apart from the fact that their early sound increased interest in more, especially the transition from their debut to their sophomore release showcased that one of their biggest strengths lies in the sonical progression of the band.

With their 2026 EP Freamăt, Rană return with a staggering 18-minute track that marks the full range of the entire release. It only takes a few moments to realize that once again this band returned with a sound that seeks new shores. If the length of this one track was not hint enough, the listeners certainly are supposed to expect sounds that move within the framework of epic doom surroundings. Further on, this massive track offers the possibility for numerous progressions that will pick up long-term listeners for sure but it might also be of interest for new audiences.

This EP will be released on limited to 300 dark black and limited to 150 smoke brown vinyl with screenprinted B-side via Fucking Kill Records. It will also be released on cassette tape via Breath Sun Bone Blood (EU) and Fiadh Productions (US).

Recording, mixing and mastering duties were all covered by the one and only Fabian Schulz at Sunsetter Recording studio, once again proving that he is one of the current go-to spots for productions that hover in similar spheres. The amazing artwork was done by Alex / skullcult.

The official release is tomorrow, the 2nd of October. If you can’t wait until then, feel free to listen to the track above or directly at Lower Rhine Underground.
