It is no secret that we love Blood Incantation. Their last record Absolute Elsewhere was in a lot year’s-end-lists, us included. A near perfect blend of complex Death Metal and Ambient-like soundscapes. The following EP Luminescent Bridge saw them expand on this formula. While the first Ambient-album Timewave zero felt like a journey through the vast and unsettling space, All Gates open now feels like an arrival. The atmosphere is a whole lot lighter while the scope is as wide as ever.

Balance” sees us approaching new territory. Everything sounds as if as sun is slowly rising on the horizon. “Flight” can best be described as the entering of the atmosphere. Tension is in the air, but with every passing minute the optimism more and more takes over. A slow and steady heartbeat sets in and the warmth of a new home is felt. “Dawn” is the shortest excursion on All Gates open. It feels like a coming rest on the new home. “Rain” is the definitive settling in. Getting used to your new surroundings, soaking and breathing in the atmosphere.

Although no word is spoken, Ambient for me is about story-telling. It is about painting a scenery. Blood Incantation are masters when it comes to develop a universe set in space. This is music for the quiet beauty of star constellations or the slow explosion of supernovas. Blood Incantation exceed in stellar fashion when it comes to molding your mind until it is at peace. All Gates open is the cosmic zen-garden you need when your own planet is spinning out of orbit.
