Perilaxe Occlusion – Exponential Decay (Death Metal – Canada)
Perilaxe Occlusion are a new Death Metal band from Canada, who can score on their debut especially with great production and exciting songwriting. From bitterly evil blast parts, over bestial roaring to sawing riffing and stomping midtempo parts to slamming downtempo tunes, there is simply everything to marvel at on Exponential Decay, which makes the heart of every camoflage pants wearer beat faster. Due to the strong quality of this debut, we will certainly hear more from the duo in the future, because this demo can only be described as spectacular and stands out musically compared to most others currently. No suprise that this record will be also released on vinyl via mighty Blood Harvest Records and it’s totally worth it.

Obscurial – Exaltation (Death/Thrash Metal – Malaysia)
Another new Death Metal band that caught my eye is Obscurial from Malaysia. On Exaltation they play vicious Metal that is inspired by various 90s schools. Melodic parts as known from Sweden, monstrous growls á la American south coast and also a lot of US Death Metal in the instrumentals. The distorted riffing saws a swath, while the massive drums smash everything into bits and pieces. In combination with Thrash Metal driven guitar sections and disgusting stomping parts definitely a demo that you should check out as a genre fan, because even if Obscurial do not reinvent the wheel, they let many musical elements and influences merge, which makes the record varied and worth listening.

Crucify Me – Demo (Hardcore Punk – USA)
Crucify Me is a new New York Hardcore Punk band that includes members of The Fight, among others. The Demo convinces with scraggly guitars, aggressive and distinctive vocals and fulminant Pbunk drumming. The songwriting is not very innovative, but effective. Frustrated fast parts alternate here with slower passages, where the focus is mainly on the guitar playing. In short, this is the perfect sound to push people around and stomp with boots from side to side. The production has a classic demo character and comes across raw and unpolished. If you like bands like NWOBHC and 80s USHC, you will be able to appreciate Crucify Me.

Hellish Inferno – Demo (Raw Punk – USA)
If you want your Hardcore Punk to be really dirty and raw, you should definitely check out the Demo of Hellish Inferno from the States. With furious beating in classic Raw Punk style, furious drumming and harsh guitars, the band knows exactly what it takes to describe a fucked up future. The reverberating vocals add to it and give the sound the cold charm of the 80s. There is non-stop action in here and the songs are permantly fast and hard in your face hitting stuff. So it can be described in general as quite a short demo that hits the nail on the head with its brutality and fires out one merciless pogo anthem after another. Totally sick stuff for ugly people!

Kontaminate – Blood Hunger Demo (Hardcore Punk – USA)
Kontaminate also come from America and play Hardcore Punk. However, this is clearly more influenced by old USHC and D-Beat and also has a high melodic character. The Blood Hunger Demo rattles at all corners and ends, especially thanks to the ultra-aggressive drums and the biting, partly rabid-sounding vocals. The guitar playing shreds relentlessly and also has – besides fast riffing – various melodies ready, which draw the comparison to classic USHC. Their sound has addictive potential and already sound as energetic on their first release as few other bands out there. Pissed-off groove that is extremely catchy and can quickly stick in your mind. I can imagine how people will escalate at a live show of Kontaminate, because I definitely would.
